Americans should park their recalled Toyotas unless driving to dealers for accelerator repairs, Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood warned Wednesday — then quickly took it back — as skepticism of company fixes grew and the government’s probe expanded to other models in the U.S. and Japan. （本文より）。「米国運輸省官僚、Ray LaHood氏、アメリカ人はトヨタを修理に持っていかないなら、運転すべきでない、といってから発言を撤回」中国のギョウザの問題で声を荒げるコメンテーターはいた、日本の政治家は失言が多いので、アメリカの官僚も馬鹿な発言をすることもあると安心させられる。「撤回」という言葉も日本の政治家には欠かせないことばである。言ったことは言ったこと、その人間の真意を反映する以外の何者でもない。それをいくら撤回といっても、それをいった事実が変わるわけでもない。その人間のイメージが変わるでもない。
日本の政治家もこれにならって米国の車のリコールがあれば、同じような発言をするべきである。牛肉問題についてもそうである。なにか米国製品について問題があれば、まずはRay LaHood氏の様な警告をする、そしてその後撤回するのがよい。
It relieves me to find stupid politicians/bureaucrats in the U.S. not only in Japan.
In the future Japanese politicians/bureaucrats must follow the style of Mr. LaHood all the more in the case of recalls of the U.S. case, the U.S. beef case or any other cases involving the U.S. First say do not buy it it is too dangerous etc. and take the statement back.
Of course, the safety of the consumer comes first and Toyota is not released from the blame for its trouble. The company must take any possible way to fix the problem and find any fault in its products for the safety of the people.
Take, nonetheless, the note of which countries are actively attacking Toyota cases and let the politician, government officials and commentators in Japan react the same or more aggressively when the problems happen to the company/ies from these countries.
